SD: Hi Tia. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?

TJ: Hi everyone, my name is Tia Jakubenko and I am 19. Growing up I had the unique experience of living on a farm in the picturesque Gold Coast Hinterland, where I honed a strong team spirit through National Premier League Soccer and National level Horse Riding.  With Aboriginal and Ukrainian Heritage, I deeply value cultural diversity and have engaged in transformative volunteer work including donating my hair to support cancer patients.

SD: You’re a Miss World Australia QLD State Finalist 2024. Can you tell us more about it?

TJ: Miss World Australia is a National Beauty Pageant in Australia. The competition includes various segments including, Introductions, Evening wear and a Question and Answer. Attending this pageant has been one of the most incredible experiences, the girl and committee are lovely and extremely supportive. Miss World Australia aims to promote Beauty with a Purpose. This leads to one of the amazing reasons I chose to nominate for Miss World Australia, we support a life-changing cause, Variety- The Children’s Charity. Every child deserves the chance to live a full and healthy life, unfortunately many children are born with or develop serious illnesses that not only threaten this chance but also place immense emotional and financial strain on their families. Fundraising for sick children is our way of extending a hand of solidarity to those in need. It’s not just about the money raised; it’s about the hope and support that we offer.

SD: How did you become interested in pageants?

TJ: I’ve always been fascinated by pageants because they offer a unique platform to showcase not just beauty, but also talents, intelligence, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community. Participating in pageants allows me to develop my confidence, public speaking skills and poise. Additionally, I am passionate about the charitable aspects of pageants, as they often involve fundraising and awareness campaigns for important causes. Being part of a pageant gives me the opportunity to meet inspiring people, form lasting friendships, and represent my values and aspirations on a larger stage. Overall, pageants are a way for me to grow personally and professionally while contributing to society in a meaningful way.

SD: What’s in your makeup bag right now?

TJ: My makeup bag is my most prized possession, I don’t wear makeup very often but when I do, it is my favourite step when getting ready. My makeup bag consists of primer, concealers, foundations, contours, blushes, mascara, lip glosses and liners, brow gel, eyeliners, setting powder and setting spray. My holy grail is without a doubt my Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Blush wand.

SD: What is your vision of success?

TJ: My vision of success is deeply rooted in the values and opportunities my parents have provided me. I want to achieve a level of success that allows me to give back to my family in the same way they have supported and nurtured me throughout my life. Success, for me, means not only reaching my personal and professional goals but also ensuring that I can provide stability, love and opportunities for my family. I aspire to be a role model and a source of inspiration, just as my parents have been for me. Ultimately, success is about creating a legacy of hard work, dedication and compassion, and making a positive impact on the lives of those around me.

SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14-year-old self, what would it be?

TJ: If I could give my 14-year-old self one piece of advice, it would be to always stay true to who you are and never change for anyone. It’s so important to embrace your unique qualities and be confident in your own skin. There will be times when you might feel pressured to fit in or conform to others’ expectations but remember that your individuality is what makes you special. Being yourself will attract the right people into your life and lead to genuine, meaningful relationships. Trust in your abilities, follow your passions, and don’t be afraid to stand out. Staying authentic to yourself will bring you the happiness and fulfillment you deserve.

SD: Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?

TJ: Jennifer Hawkins is my most inspirational pageant queen because she embodies grace, beauty and intelligence in everything she does. Jennifer’s dedication to her craft, her work ethic, and her ability to remain humble and grounded despite her success are qualities I deeply admire. She has used her platform to inspire others, promote positive body image, and support various charitable causes.

SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?

TJ: Beauty Pageants are very new to me, stepping into this world has been a significant step outside my comfort zone. Competing in pageants has challenged me in ways I never imagined, pushing me to grow both personally and professionally. Through this experience, I’ve gained confidence, learned the importance of self-presentation, and developed a stronger sense of self-worth. The supportive community within pageants has also introduced me to incredible people who share similar aspirations. Overall, participating in beauty pageants has been a transformative journey, helping me to discover new strengths and capabilities that I didn’t know I had.

SD: What is your best beauty secret?

TJ: My best beauty secret is my Ultraviolette Sunscreen and staying hydrated by drinking heaps of water. Ultravioltte Sunscreen helps protect my skin from harmful UV rays, preventing premature aging and maintaining a healthy complexion. Hydrating my body by drinking plenty of water not only keeps my skin glowing and radiant but also supports overall health and well-being.
