INTERVIEW with Cindy Huynh || Miss World Australia Preliminary Finalist 2024
SD: Hi Cindy. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?
CH: Thank you Suzanne for reaching out for such an amazing opportunity! I am Cindy Huynh. I am of Vietnamese descent, I am currently a Resourcing specialist for the blue collar industry as well as a fashion model. I currently hold the title of Miss World Preliminary Finalist (going into state finals) and will be going to Malaysia in September to complete in Miss Millennium Universe!
SD: You’re a Miss World Australia Preliminary Finalist 2024. Can you tell us more about it?
CH: Certainly! Miss World Australia is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in Australia. It has a long-standing history and is recognized for its commitment to promoting beauty with a purpose. The pageant aims to showcase the beauty, talent, and intelligence of Australian women, as well as promote charitable causes and community involvement. Contestants are judged not only on their physical appearance but also on their public speaking skills, talent, and commitment to social causes.
SD: How did you become interested in pageants?
CH: I believe pageants can empower individuals by providing a platform for expressing opinions, advocating for causes, and making a positive impact. I applied for Miss world wanting to break stereotypes within my own community, I believe that the culture we grow up around does not minimalise our opportunities and id like to prove that by going big with all my efforts in hopes to empower individuals or better yet, inspire.
SD: What’s in your makeup bag right now?
CH: That’s an excellent question. My everyday makeup would be foundation, concealer, blush, setting powder and bronzer! A combination that gets me right everyday making me look ready to head the day straight on!.
SD: What is your vision of success?
CH: My vision of success may have to be, knowing that you are on the right path, despite all the obstacles one person may face. Always choosing to continuously improve from where you left off. I also believe success stems from a balance between work, leisure, relationships, and personal time, leading to a harmonious and fulfilling life.
SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14 year old self, what would it be?
CH: “Life may be difficult as of right now, life will always throw certain challenges that you must endure and solve enable to be prepared for all the good karma and happiness in the future. Do not be afraid, keep your chin up.”, is exactly what I will tell my 14 year old self.
SD: Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?
CH: I am inspired by Chelsea Manalo who was crowned as Miss Universe Philippines in May 22, 2024. She is the first coloured woman of the Philippines to have won the title of Miss Universe Philippines. Despite all the negative criticism, she powered her way through with the help of her supports and family to win the title. She not only made her country proud, I can see that she made herself most definitely proud to break the chain. Her winning the title has enabled all people of different coloured skin, ethnicity, gender, religion, and etc to find hope and courage.
SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?
CH: Beauty pageants have truly shaped who I am today, both personally and professionally. They have been instrumental in boosting my confidence, refining my communication skills, and teaching me the importance of perseverance. Through pageants, I've not only met inspiring individuals but also forged invaluable connections that have guided me in pursuing my dreams in modeling and public speaking.
SD: What is your best beauty secret?
CH: One of my top beauty secrets is taking good care of my skin. I stick to a simple skincare routine that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and using sunscreen every day. Drinking plenty of water, eating well with occasional sweet treats, and getting enough sleep also play a big role in keeping my skin healthy and glowing.
