INTERVIEW with Cheryl Wong || Miss World Australia SA State Finalist 2024
SD: Hi Cheryl. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?
CW: I'm Cheryl & I studied a B. Journalism, and currently working in Corporate Banking. I enjoy trying new cafes & restaurants with my friends- especially high tea.
You’re a Miss World Australia State Finalist 2024. Can you tell us more about it?
CW: I have been thinking of applying to MWA since last year but didn't submit my application until a few days later after my 25th birthday.
And by then I only had a month to prepare for it and it has been a great experience to be selected as a State Finalist.
I feel accomplished in learning some catwalk & stage presence in a month while balancing my social life along with my full-time corporate job.
How did you become interested in pageants?
CW: Childhood influence, and I’ve been watching beauty pageants since I was 5 years old.

SD: What’s in your makeup bag right now?
CW: Mostly Lip Products: Clairns Lip Oil (Chocolate) is my go-to & I usually use it on top of my Chanel Lip Balm (Natural Charm).
I'm usually makeup free so a lip product is my mini glam, unless I have special events to attend, so I will put the look together.
SD: What is your vision of success?
CW: My vision of success is staying motivated through your goals and that you set at each phase of your life & achieving it.
SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14 year old self, what would it be?
CW: My 14 year-old-self would have been super shy & only wear black colour clothes because she would be hiding from everyone who gives her eye contact.
Fast forward to today, I have completed my Journalism degree- majoring in TV & Radio reporting which I undertook internships at Community TV & Radio stations. Along with being among Miss World AUS South Australian Finalists, I feel accomplished and aiming to achieve more in the future.
So I would tell her: There's no dream that are too big, if other people think so then they're limiting their own dream/s BUT it doesn't affect yours.
SD: Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?
CW: I'm inspired most by Linda Chung, who won Miss Chinese International 2004- and which was the first beauty pageant I saw when I was a kid.
It was my childhood dream to enter a Beauty Pageant, and she also has the same birthday as me which make me feels like it's possible for me to join once I reached the eligible age.
SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?
CW: I studied journalism and I grew up shy so after watching my first beauty pageant. It has made me feel like nothing is impossible.
There's a 3 mins video on my website about this. Please check it out via https://cherylmedia18.wixsite.com/cherylwong
SD: What is your best beauty secret?
CW: My beauty secret is to get monthly facials and always carry an eye oil in your bag in case your eyes feel dry throughout the day- especially when you have non stop back-to-back events.
