INTERVIEW with Ravishing Fashionistas Designer 2023 - A.M.Y. Designs

SD: Hi Amy, for my readers who don’t know you yet, can you please introduce yourself?
AA: I live on the Sunshine Coast with my 2 young boys that are the loves of my life 💙 I live a simple life with family, fitness, creativity and building my business!
SD: What was the biggest inspiration behind your latest collection?
AA: To bring my art to life for other people to experience.
SD: What helps you get in the zone when you’re designing?
AA: I don’t actually need any help getting in the zone. My creative mind never stops. When I’m designing a garment I usually start another and then go back to the first one 😂
SD: When did you first realise you wanted to pursue a career as a designer?
AA: When I was a teenager but I was steered into a non arty career. In my early 30’s I was diagnosed with a severe autoimmune disease and decided after I got through it and got stronger that I was going to finally pursue my talent and dreams.

SD:What was your biggest fear when going out and starting your own line?
AA: That women and children wouldn’t accept my style and design.
SD: How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?
AA: That they are the most beautiful person in the room that shows their own feminine style. I designed my collection so that women can choose their own style by placing my different designs together.
SD: There’s so much pressure for designers to come out with their greatest collection season after season. What advice would you give to young designers just starting out and hoping to make it in the industry?
AA: Never give up on your artistic vision! If a design doesn’t come together first, second or third time; don’t give up on it and just think outside your box. And be patient with yourself and your vision, there is no rush.
