INTERVIEW with Ravishing Fashionistas Designer 2023 - 9 Designs

SD: Hi Heaven, for my readers who don’t know you yet, can you please introduce yourself?
HA: Hi, my name is Heaven Arici, I'm 24 years old and a self-taught fashion designer, and my brand is 9 Designs. Specialising in artistic couture and avant garde styles, with a unique blend of architectural flair and flow.
SD: What was the biggest inspiration behind your latest collection?
HA: I really wanted to challenge myself on an artistic flair with the Imitation is Art collection because I don't think other designers have thought of bringing famous artworks to life like this. And it also shows my Imitation of it, my perspective and how out of the box it can be.
SD: What helps you get in the zone when you’re designing?
HA: Honestly, I'm a big procrastinator but watching fashion shows and talking about my designs ends up motivating myself and then I put a netflix show on in the background and get into what I’m working on.

SD: When did you first realise you wanted to pursue a career as a designer?
HA: Funnily enough, I see it as my passion. I love pushing myself creatively and putting something different out there every time and I just want to see how far I can go.
SD: What was your biggest fear when going out and starting your own line?
HA: Honestly probably just the fact that how I make things very differently to others and that it's not "the norm" and because I do so, my perfection corners are cut sometimes.
SD: How do you want women to feel when wearing your clothes?
HA: Amazing! I want them to feel like they stand out in the best way! Normal is not my go to and I love knowing the possibilities of personal expression are endless and one of a kind!
SD: There’s so much pressure for designers to come out with their greatest collection season after season. What advice would you give to young designers just starting out and hoping to make it in the industry?
HA: JUST. KEEP. CREATING!
Love what you do and design whatever makes you happy.
Expect hard times, expect mean comments, expect things to not go the way it should, but keep doing you no matter what.
