SD: Hi Mia. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?

MT: Hello everyone! My name is Mia Torres; I am a compassionate young individual that prides herself on family and faith. My mum is a big inspiration in my life as her journey through adversity encourages me each day to value my Filipino heritage and my belief in God.

SD: You’re a Miss World Australia Preliminary Finalist 2024. Can you tell us more about it?

MT: Being a Preliminary Finalist is a rollercoaster of excitement and nerves, from preparation to the event day. It’s a great opportunity for growth outside of the comfort zone but bonding with the other beautiful contestants from diverse backgrounds makes everything easier.

SD: How did you become interested in pageants?

MT: Beauty has always been a passion of mine and pageantry falls squarely within that realm. It demonstrates dedication and commitment not only to personal endeavours but also to community service, which provides contestants with a platform to inspire others and effect positive change in their surroundings.

SD: What’s in your makeup bag right now?

MT: Recently, my go to routine has been the 'no make-up' make-up look and achieving it with affordable quality products; such as the` Mcobeauty mascara, Rare Beauty contour stick and liquid blush, the Natio lip liner in and the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm.

SD: What is your vision of success?

MT: Success to me is being able to provide for those you love while keeping true to yourself, it also means never giving up on your goals and aspirations even if someone puts you down because pushing and continuing to do what you love is success within itself.

SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14-year-old self, what would it be?

MT: ‘If not now, when?’ is what I would tell my younger self. We often overlook opportunities, so seize them with motivation to create change, and remember that sharing kindness is one of the simplest things we can do for the world.

SD: Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?

MT: In the month that I had to prepare for Miss World Australia I took a lot of inspiration from the main Instagram page @missworldaustralia.

Watching the other girls who are just like you and me go out of their comfort zone definitely inspired and helped shape my mindset of “anything is possible.”

SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?

MT: Although I have modelled for brands in the past, being in a pageant for the first time has opened a world of opportunities and made me realise with the love and support from others you can truly put yourself out there.

SD: What is your best beauty secret?

MT: My best beauty secret is listening to your body! Build a daily routine and stay consistent to form healthy habits. Personally, I work out 5 days a week to maintain my health and, although still a work in progress, having a well-balanced diet.
