INTERVIEW with Lillian Perez || Candidate for Face of Australia 2025

SD: Hi, Lillian. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?

LP: My name is Lillian Perez, and I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Queensland. I was born and raised in the Philippines and relocated to Australia in July 2019.

SD: You’re a Candidate for Face of Australia 2025. Can you tell me more about it?

LP: I am incredibly honoured to be one of the finalists for Face of Australia Queensland 2025. This is more than just a milestone for me, considering that I love taking risks and exploring different opportunities laid out for me. Joining this pageant helps me inspire others, celebrate confidence and advocate a cause I deeply care about, such as Mental Health advocacies. This journey teaches me the value of perseverance and embracing my unique qualities. It also allows me to amplify my voice and share my vision for empowerment. As time passes, this pageant allows me to grow, build confidence, and connect with other inspiring individuals. I am ecstatic to continue this journey and make the most of this incredible opportunity to represent my advocacy.

SD: How did you become interested in pageants?

LP: I believe pageants celebrate not only beauty but also intelligence, resilience and the power of individuality. Being part of a pageant allows me to represent my culture, my story and my values while inspiring others to embrace their unique journey.

SD: What’s in your makeup bag right now?

LP: My make-up bag is filled with mixed essentials such as face palettes, lip gloss and eyebrow pencils. One thing that you can always find in my make-up bag is my favourite blush cream.

SD: What is your vision of success?

LP: I see success as the ability to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, whether through my actions, advocacy or contributions to my community. It is about leaving a positive mark on the world.

SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14-year-old self, what would it be?

LP: The piece of advice I would like to give to my 14-year-old self is that your worth isn’t defined by how others see you. The love and validation you’re searching for will come, but first, you’ll learn to see and love yourself. Be patient – you’re growing into someone truly amazing, even if you don’t see it yet.

SD: Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?

LP: My inspiration in the Pageant world is Catriona Gray. She is the Miss Universe 2018. I admire her not only just for her beauty but for her intelligence, empathy and dedication to making a difference. Her story inspires many to embrace their unique strengths. Moreover, I am obsessed with her so-called “lava walk” during the Evening Gown category.

How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?

LP:  In terms of personal growth, pageants bring together people from different backgrounds, fostering a sense of sisterhood and mutual support. These relationships often last beyond the competition, helping me create a valuable network of like-minded individuals. In terms of my career, pageants have helped enhance my communication skills. As a Psychology student, the ability to communicate effectively is crucial when working with future clients, and the pageant experience has been instrumental in shaping those skills.

What is your best beauty secret?

LP:  My best beauty secret is spreading love. When you love yourself, you will love other people gracefully.
