INTERVIEW with Chymbeelyn de Pasion || Grand Champion of Face of Australia Queensland 2024

Hi, Chymbeelyn. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?

CP: I was born and raised in the Philippines, living a simple yet determined life as the unica hija of the family and the eldest among three siblings, with two younger brothers. From an early age, I understood the value of perseverance, a trait that would define her journey in both education and pageantry.

My passion for excellence led her to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Service, which she completed in 2017. But her ambition didn’t stop there—I am now pursuing further education in Australia while continuing to make a name in the world of beauty pageants and modelling.

My journey in pageantry began in 2014 when she stepped onto the stage as a school representative. Unlike many others, I had no mentors or coaches; I was an independent candidate who relied solely on myself-discipline and determination. I trained myself practiced relentlessly, and built my confidence through TFP (Time for Print) photoshoots. My first major win came in 2014 at a barangay competition in Valenzuela, Philippines which paved the way to represent her hometown at Mister and Miss Philippine Youth 2015. That victory fuelled her passion even further, culminating in her triumph as Miss Foreign Service 2016 at New Era University.

SD: How did you become interested in pageants? 

CP: While many might see beauty pageants as mere competitions, for me they were stepping stones to something greater. Beyond the crowns and titles, I saw pageantry as a platform for self-empowerment and growth. Even in my professional life in customer service, where career progression was limited, I refused to be confined by circumstances. I sought out higher opportunities, confidently stepped beyond my assigned roles, and comfort zones and proved that ambition and hard work could break barriers; it was about chasing bigger dreams and proving that success is within reach for those who dare to strive for it.

SD: What is your best beauty secret?

CP: A mind set full of self-determination, courage, and the belief that greatness is possible, no matter where you come from or what obstacles stand in your way. 

SD: You won Face of Australia 2024. Can you tell me more about it?

CP: With renewed focus, I reignited the dream of becoming a model and beauty queen. My dedication paid off when I was crowned the Grand Champion of Face of Australia Queensland 2024, a victory that solidified my presence in the Australian fashion scene. This accomplishment allowed me grow personally, gave me an opportunity to walk the runway at various prestigious events, including the Toowoomba Fashion Festival, Sariling Atin Australia launching event, For Friends: The Eco Showcase to name few and other fashion shows for charity purposes.

I have been honoured with the prestigious International Beauty Queen of the Year 2024 title at the Australian Golden Sash Awards, a recognition that celebrates my remarkable achievements in both modelling and pageantry. My journey—from an independent candidate in the Philippines to an internationally recognized titleholder—embodies resilience, grace, and determination. My dedication to my craft and commitment to empowering others have made me a standout figure in the pageant world. This award not only highlights the beauty but also my influence as a role model and inspiration to aspiring queens across the globe.

But my success didn’t stop there. I soon took my ambitions to the international stage when I was selected to compete at Miss Glam World 2024 in Kochi, India. It was there, with grace and determination, that I claimed the title of Miss Glam World Asia 2024, marking yet another milestone in her illustrious journey, additionally, the beautiful awards of Miss Glam World 2024 - Fashionista and Miss Glam World 2024 - Best in National Costume. 

To cap off my incredible journey in 2024, I had the immense honor of being appointed once again to represent the Philippines on the international stage at the prestigious Miss Polo International 2024 pageant. The event took place in Dubai last November, bringing together accomplished women from around the world to celebrate beauty, intelligence, and advocacy.

In a proud and defining moment, I was crowned Miss Polo International Asia 2024, a testament to my dedication, perseverance, and the support of everyone who believed in me. Additionally, I was humbled to receive several Ambassadress awards, recognizing my efforts in promoting education, women’s empowerment, and social causes.

One of the most significant highlights of my journey was winning the coveted Best in National Costume award for the second time, solidifying my reputation for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines on the global stage. My national costume was a masterpiece that paid homage to the traditions and artistry of my homeland, capturing the admiration of judges and audiences alike.

SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?

CP: Beyond the stage, I have become a voice of inspiration and advocacy. I am deeply involved in raising awareness about the value of pageantry as a platform for empowerment. My dedication to charity work is equally commendable, having participated in and organized numerous fundraising and community events. Through my work, I am constantly pushing boundaries, using this platform to make a positive impact on society.

This experience was more than just a competition—it was a platform that allowed me to advocate for meaningful causes, inspire others, and represent my country with pride and passion. The journey may have been challenging, but every step was a fulfillment of my dreams and aspirations as a beauty queen and advocate for positive change

SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14-year-old self, what would it be?

CP: Based on my journey—from starting pageantry independently to representing the Philippines internationally, building Limitless to empower women, and balancing leadership roles in my professional career—I've proven that resilience, self-belief, and continuous learning are key to success.
