INTERVIEW with Lara Mae || Candidate for Face of Australia 2025

SD: Hi, Lara. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don't know you yet?

LM: Hi everyone. I'm Lara. I'm a small town girl with big dreams. As someone who has been deeply impacted by the kindness of others, I have a soft spot for paying it forward and spreading joy wherever I go. I'm a nature lover, and a firm believer in the power of a good pair of heels.

SD: You're a Candidate for Face of Australia 2025. Can you tell me more about it?

LM: Face of Australia is a prestigious national pageant that celebrates women's beauty, intelligence, and charisma regarding what color, size and age you are. As a candidate, I'll have the opportunity to advocate for social causes I'm passionate about, and inspire others to pursue their passions. The pageant is more than just a competition – it's a platform for empowering women, promoting self-love, and celebrating individuality. I'm excited to be part of a community that values kindness, compassion, and confidence.

SD: How did you become interested in pageants?

LM: I've always been fascinated by the world of pageants, where women can empower each other, build confidence, and make a positive impact. My interest sparked when I watched a pageant on TV as a teenager. I was inspired by the contestants' poise, passion, and dedication to their causes.

SD: What's in your makeup bag right now?

LM: My makeup bag is stocked with essentials that help me feel confident and beautiful. These include a good foundation, a trusty mascara, and a set of lip glosses.

SD: What is your vision of success?

LM: Success, for me, is all about creating a life that aligns with your values and brings fulfillment. It’s not just about achieving professional milestones or accumulating material things, but about having the courage to follow your passion, make a difference, and inspire others. I believe success is about balance—being happy, healthy, and grounded, while also contributing positively to society.

SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14 year old self, what would it be?

LM: If I could give one piece of advice to my 14-year-old self, it would be to embrace your uniqueness and don't compare yourself to others. Focus on developing your strengths, be kind to yourself, and always believe in your potential.

SD: Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?

LM: One woman who stands out to me is Pia Wurtzbach (Miss Universe 2015). She’s a perfect example of beauty with purpose. Beyond her stunning appearance, Pia has shown incredible strength, resilience, and dedication to humanitarian work. Her advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness and her unwavering belief in the power of women have made a profound impact, and I admire her for using her platform to help others.

SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?

LM: Participating in beauty pageants has had a profound impact on my life. It has taught me valuable skills such as confidence and public speaking skills. It has given me a platform to express myself, to share my passions and values, and to connect with like-minded women. It has also taught me the importance of resilience, perseverance, and hard work.

SD: What is your best beauty secret?

LM: My best beauty secret is to prioritize self-care and self-love. Take time to nourish your body, mind, and spirit. Get enough sleep, exercise regularly, and eat a balanced diet. And most importantly, practice positive affirmations and be kind to yourself.
