Why 2020 Was Also The Best Year Of My Twenties

In my previous blog post, “Why 2019 Was The Best Year Of My Twenties”, I was 28 when posting about my year and reflecting on it. I said 2019 was the best year of my twenties.

But…

2020 has also been really kind to me. Currently as a 29-year-old, a lot of good things happened to me and here’s why:

1. I moved out of social housing and into private rental

I stayed in social housing for two years and proved that I can be a good tenant. At this place, I swear the cops were there every month (not because of me lol!) and it was scary at times - I mean, I experienced times where there were people who tried to break into my studio unit late at night. To be honest, I didn’t really get along well with my neighbours…there were, well, interesting people to say the least. I live in a really quiet area now, and it’s so cosy.

2. I build up confidence in driving

I drive on the freeway, I drive in the pouring rain…I drive everywhere! I also got really spoilt and was given a car. I am so spoilt, but blessed.

3. I got my dream job as a Mental Health Peer Support Worker

As I’m writing this now, I have worked with this amazing mental health organisation for 6 months. I love my job, and although it takes 1.5 hours for me to get to work, I don’t mind at all. The job is so rewarding and gives me purpose in life.

4. I fell in love

I met an amazing guy during my holidays in Vietnam. I see him as my best friend, and we are doing long distance. He is so good to me.

5. I got closer to God

I feel as a Christian, this year God has challenged me and given me opportunities, such as blessing me with an amazing job. I love Him so much.
