Bipolar + Marriage - What Have I Learnt So Far?
This March 2025, I got married to my best friend.
The one who accepts me for who I am.
The one who encourages me.
The one who lifts me up when I’m down.
The one who always understands.
The one who loves me unconditionally.
You know, there was a time I thought I would never marry someone because I’m a ‘complicated case’ and ‘too mentally ill’.
But that’s not true, I have crushed every negative self-belief I had about myself when I was younger.
I learnt to love myself for who I am and Nhon just came at the right time.
I told myself if I don’t love myself, too, no one can love me for who I am now.
Bringing Nhon over from Vietnam, I learnt that he has kept his word.
He said he’ll help me with the house chores.
And he has done that since Day One in Australia.
He makes me a coffee every morning.
He helps me cook dinner and work lunch.
He washes dishes after me without prompting.
I especially love that he has love our cats (Riley and Mischief) as his own - changing their litter box and feeding them every day - also with not much prompting.
I love Nhon and I am really enjoying married life.
