A Letter To My 14-Year-Old Self Part II

suzanne-dang.jpeg

Dear 14-Year-Old Suzanne,

You got used to putting on a fake smile even though you were hurting inside.

You told people you were okay and strong even though you weren’t coping.

You put on a strong and resilient mask on wherever you went.

But in actual fact, you wanted someone to tell you that you matter.

Someone who you can cry to and have a shoulder to lean on.

The truth was you had no idea what mental health was.

The truth is you will grow up to be a mental health advocate and be the strength for those who are weak.

You fight battles every day, but they help you become who you are in the future.

You are an inspiration for many.

Your story will speak to many people.

You will help more people than you think.

So please don’t be so hard on yourself, dear young Suzanne.

From Suzanne
