INTERVIEW with Rachel Green || Miss World Australia National Finalist 2024

SD: Hi Rachel. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?

RG: Hi my Name is Rachel Green; I am 21 years old and I am currently studying Occupational Therapy Honours at the University of South Australia. I have a huge passion for the performing arts where I have danced professionally in Los Angeles twice in iconic locations such as Disney Land, Universal Studios, Hollywood Boulevard and on a cruise ship. I also love singing and playing the piano in my spare time and making up my own songs. I currently have two jobs, both working with children as an OSHC educator and a dance teacher. I just adore making the lives of young children a place where they can feel safe, happy, and can grow.

SD:
You’re a Miss World Australia Preliminary Finalist 2024. Can you tell us more about it?

RG: On Sunday June 16th I competed in the South Australian final, and now will be representing my state as a National Finalist for Miss World Australia 2024. I have raised $5020 for Variety the Children’s Charity where all funds go to children living with sickness, disability or are disadvantaged to live a life that they deserve. The Miss World Australia competition focuses on ‘beauty with a purpose’. To me, this represents the beauty that comes within such as kindness, empathy, and integrity. I want to follow this motto to encompass my inner beauty to inspire, support and uplift women to use their inner beauty to create a world where we can all be happy.

SD: How did you become interested in pageants?

RG: Miss World Australia 2024 is the first pageant I have competed in. I have always loved watching pageants growing up and seeing all the beautiful dresses, however, I never thought that me, a university student from Adelaide could compete in such a prestigious competition. I am immensely grateful for this opportunity and stepping out my comfort zone to grow as a young woman in society.

SD: What’s in your makeup bag right now?

RG: My go to makeup products for glowy skin are; Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, MCo beauty instant concealer, Nars Laguna Bronzing Cream, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand – Pinkgasm, Benefit Gimme Brow Gel, TooFaced Better than sex mascara, Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette.

SD: What is your vision of success?
RG:
My vision of success is creating a life that I am happy, have good health, and strong relationships with people I love in any path I choose.

SD:
If you could give one piece of advice to your 14 year old self, what would it be?

RG: Stop worrying about what other people think of you! Back then I was scared to embarrass myself, or what others might think. But as I have grown, I now realise that it doesn’t matter what others think because at the end of the day your happiness is number 1! You only have 1 life so live it how you want and be the best person you can be xxx

SD:
Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?

RG: In the pageant world, I am inspired by the collective strength, courage, and dedication of all the contestants. Each woman brings her unique story, talents, and passions, contributing to a diverse and empowering community. Their example motivates me to strive for excellence, advocate for meaningful causes like Variety, and approach every challenge with resilience and grace. The pageant world, with its incredible array of inspiring individuals, is a testament to the power of beauty, inside and out, and the positive impact we can make when we stand together.

SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?

RG: One of the most fulfilling aspects of participating in Miss World Australia is the focus on community service and advocacy. Being involved in charitable activities for Variety has deepened my commitment to making a positive impact on young children. As a future Occupational Therapist, I hope to specialise in paediatrics and I believe that my fundraising efforts with Variety has become a core part of my personal and professional identity, guiding my career choices and volunteer efforts.

SD: What is your best beauty secret?

RG: Creating a skin care plan!!! For me I used to struggle with cystic and hormonal acne so finding a solution was a must for me. In the morning I use a vitamin C serum, moisturiser, and SUN SCREEN. At night I cleanse my skin and use retinol followed by my moisturiser. All products by ‘Nobody’s Nobody’.
