INTERVIEW with Krysta Heath || Ms Galaxy Australia National Finalist 2024
SD: Hi Krysta. Can you introduce yourself to my readers who don’t know you yet?
KH: Hi, my name is Krysta! I am a Child Protection Caseworker who has a background in Early Childhood Teaching and specialises in working with children who have disabilities.
On top of that, I am also a foster mum to a beautiful boy, an adventurer and enjoy spending time with friends and family.
SD: You’re a finalist for Ms Galaxy Australia 2024. Can you tell us more about it?
KH: Australia Galaxy Pageants is quickly becoming a popular pageant due to the warm, kind and fair atmosphere it embodies. The friendships you make at Galaxy follows you and the memories you make are always positive. I have competed a few times over the years and I am lucky to continue to have the opportunity to come back. Australia Galaxy Pageants is by far one of my favourites and I hope I get the opportunity to represent Australia one day for them.
SD: How did you become interested in pageants?
KH: To be honest it was just a 'in the moment' thing, I had never thought about entering a pageant until one day I saw a pageant advertising on Facebook and I just applied. I never thought I would get in and everything just took off from there really.
I think that it is one of my most proudest moments since starting pageants, getting into my first pageant. I don't think people really understand how much you have to push past emotionally.
SD: What’s in your makeup bag right now?
KH: Oh love this ! A lot of Sink02, I love their contouring and eyebrow kit. Also I have the skin02 makeup bag, and this fits some much in. So really everything I need to do my makeup for any occasion.
But if I was to tell you what I had in my purse, it's my Skin02 plumping lipgloss.
SD: What is your vision of success?
KH: This is interesting! I used to think it was about having goals and achieving them.
For example, study hard to get a degree, to get a good job, to buy a house and to be able to live independently without help. To me this was my vision of success and I did this. I completed this goal by 26, but then I just moved on to other goals.
Don't get me wrong, having goals and achieving them is great ! However, I found that I was just always looking for the next goal and was never happy for long.
The last year I have just been trying to be content with the life I have and to enjoy my moments of success before moving on.
I think my version of success is when you can look back on what you have achieved and be happy.
SD: What do you admire in a woman and why?
KH: I admire our strength. I think we as women continue to face many adversities and I love that we don't let this stop us.
SD: If you could give one piece of advice to your 14 year old self, what would it be?
KH: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" - Eleanor Roosevelt
I remember hearing this for the first time when watching princess diaries, and while I understood the words, I did not really understand what this meant.
If I could go back, I would help my younger self understand this quote and give her the power to know that she is more than what people say she is.
SD: Who are you most inspired by in the Pageant World and why?
KH: To be honest, I cant pick just one person as I am inspired by so many.
During pageant week, it's the girls I compete with. It is really amazing to see women of all different backgrounds come together to compete yet still support each other.
But, if I had to pick someone maybe Maria Thattil, I like what she has done with her title.
Following her placing in Miss Universe Internationals she had continued to use her platform here in Australia to talk about adversity and to make waves in lots of areas.
I like that and hope I have the opportunity to do the same if I was to win.
SD: How have beauty pageants impacted your life and your career?
KH: I think it has helped to develop a sense of self love and confidence that is secure and has become a part of me that is hard to rock now.
That might sound weird given the general assumption is that you are being "judged" based off your beauty and if you lose then they "don't think you pretty enough".
However, it's much more complex than, everything within a pageant comes down to how you present yourself and the confidence you have. If you don't believe it, then they won't either .
I've taken that confidence and self love in to every aspect of my life now and I am a much happier.
SD: What is your best beauty secret?
KH: - 2 layers of foundation
- Curling wand, with different size Barrels
- De Lorenzo hair care
- Skin02 plumping lipgloss
